New Zealand’s National Museum - Te Papa Tongarewa: the exhibits at the museum depict the history of New Zealand from the early Maori tribes until the present day. With more than 300 artworks and creative exhibitions, it is possible to experience the depth and diversity of New Zealand’s cultural heritage.

The City Art Gallery: has an impressive collection of modern art that includes sculptures, paintings, photography and other contemporary visual arts exhibits.
Civic Square: Open: 10:00 to 17:00 daily.
Toi Poneke Arts Centre: has a grand collection of exhibits from emerging Wellington artists as well as other exhibits. There is always something interesting going on at this centre and past events have included multi-media exhibitions with live art-rock performances, call and talk times with artists, photographic exhibitions and much more.
