Introduction

Overview & Introduction to Wellington
Wellington is the capital of New Zealand and is also known as the windy city. Contrary to the name however, the winds are seasonal and the weather in Wellington is very pleasant allowing for a number of outdoor activities to be enjoyed. The warmest months are January and February with July being the coldest.
The year-round good weather allows for a variety of outdoor activities that will satisfy the most adventurous traveller as well as those who like activities that are more slowly paced. Golfing, long walks, cycling, bungee jumping, sailing, surfing and diving are available within the city and in the surrounding areas.
It is always extra special to visit Wellington during a festival as there is an air of excitement and festive spirit of camaraderie. In fact, many tourists schedule their holidays around the events and festivals to take in the most that the city has to offer.
The rich culture and heritage of the city can be learnt about by visiting one of Wellington’s many historical museums. The city is also home to an abundance of shopping opportunities, numerous restaurants and a bustling nightlife that includes pubs, clubs, theatres and concerts.
