Metered taxi: all taxis in New Zealand are licensed and metered. Taxis can be flagged down on the street, arranged via telephone booking or taken at taxi stands found outside malls, hotels and other popular locations.
Municipal bus: many visitors enjoy getting on to the Wellington City Circular as this service follows a regular route in the inner city and is a convenient way to get to many of the city’s places of attraction. The Stagecoach Flyer travels through the inner city and also to the airport. The bright yellow bus that travels all around the inner city is know as the Stagecoach City Circular and it stops at the very popular inner city locations. Bus services are frequent, usually every 15 minutes, and generally operate from 06:30 to 23:00.
Ferry: the Dominion Post Ferry sails to Matiu Somes Island and Days Bay, a seaside village with a vibrant arts scene. The crossing takes about 30 minutes. The Eastbourne Ferry sails to Eastbourne, a pleasant seaside village. Both services leave from Queen's Wharf.
Cable car: the Cable Car departs from Downtown Wellington and stops at the Botanic Gardens. There are three stops: Clifton, leading to the Terrace and the Student Accommodation at Everton Hall; Talavera, which is the mid way point and Salamanca, linking to the Victoria University and more student accommodation at Weir House.
