Queenstown Travel Guide - Getting There
By air: Christchurch International Airport is the largest international and domestic airport in the South Island. From Christchurch, you can fly directly to Queenstown where you will arrive at Queenstown Airport. This mainly serves domestic flights but also provides international flights connecting Queenstown and Australia (Melbourne and Sydney).
By road: to drive to Queenstown, you need to enter State Highway 6. From Cromwell, follow Route 8b and turn onto Route 6. At the intersection, travel along Route 6a to Queenstown. An alternative is to drive through Arrow Junction, which is located near the rugged Kawarau Gorge. You will drive through the historic town of Arrowtown and complete a short journey to Queenstown.
