New Zealand Travel Guide

Introduction

Overview & Introduction to New Zealand
Regardless of whether you are looking for an adventure holiday making the most of the activities on offer, a quiet one enjoying the natural beauty of the country or a lively break soaking up as much culture and entertainment as possible, New Zealand offers it all.
Queenstown is the adventure capital of the country offering bungee jumping and sky diving while Taupo offers white water rafting and jet skiing. Visitors can enjoy swimming with dolphins in Kaikoura.
The modern cosmopolitan cities of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin are perfect stops for those who love the city life but wish for it to be at a slightly slower pace. Each one offers excellent wining and dining, nightlife, places of interest to visit and stunning scenery.
The North Island is home to vast areas of forest, hills and countryside. Rotorua is well-known for the geothermal activity in the area. It is also home to many Maoris and a Maori hangi should not be missed. New Zealand’s largest lake is set in magical surroundings in the art-deco town of Napier.
If you are touring the South Island, a visit to Christchurch is a must, with its gardens and parks and the Avon River flowing through the city centre. Dunedin is renowned for its Scottish charm and lively pubs while Kaikoura is famed for its whale and dolphin watching opportunities.
Beautiful beaches, mountains, lakes and stunning scenery can be enjoyed in Nelson and Abel Tasman National Park is home to a beautiful coast line. Other must-sees include Punakaiki, south of Buller, Queenstown, Stewart Islands and Wanaka. The best time to visit New Zealand is in spring or summer. Spring sees mild temperatures and less crowds than the warmer summer months, but both guarantee minimal rain and beautiful countryside.
