Getting Around

Getting Around Auckland
By bus: a comprehensive bus network serves the greater part of the city’s suburbs and most popular destinations and operates seven days a week with extended hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Fares are based on a flat fee plus extra charges levied for every zone travelled through. Day tickets are available which permit unlimited travel on all services on the date of purchase.
By metro: a somewhat restricted metro service connects the city centre with the suburban areas providing transportation largely for commuters along a series of three main lines; the Eastern line, the Western Line and the Southern line.
By taxi: taxis are easily found in Auckland and are available by telephone, from taxi ranks or by hailing them in the street. Several private companies offer telephone booking services and all taxis in Auckland are metered.
