Eating Out

Eating Out and Dining Guide to Auckland
Restaurants available cover the entire range with everything from top-class New Zealand fare to the finest in international cuisine. French, Italian, Chinese, Thai, Indian and Mexican comprise some of the international options while Pacific Rim eateries are also plentiful across the length of the city.
If you’re wondering where’s best to head to eat then there are a number of options available. The waterfront area located downtown is a popular place to head and is home to a variety of fine restaurants as well as bars that invariably serve food also.
Local cuisine

Auckland tends towards the style of cuisine that has made the entire country famous which is one based on diversity and the freshness of its ingredients. The national cuisine is described as ‘Pacific Rim’ and takes its influences from Asia, Polynesia, Europe and the Maoris who have inhabited it since early times.
New Zealand dishes are typified by fresh meats or fish and are invariably comprised of a flesh product accompanied by a number of fresh vegetable. Lamb is especially tasty and indeed has a global reputation for quality while other meats such as pork and venison also feature heavily in local cuisine.
