Introduction to Wanaka - City Centre
Wanaka is an adventure sports hub in the Queenstown Lakes District of New Zealand's South Island. It is sited on the shores of Lake Wanaka and is the gateway for ski resorts such as Treble Cone and Cardrona and the hiking and climbing venues in the nearby Mount Aspiring National Park. Wanaka City Centre hotels make great bases for travelling to these locations as well as enjoying mountain biking, nature watching, sailing, waterskiing, jet-boating, fishing, rafting, kayaking and paragliding. During the peak July to September ski season, accommodation can be busy, although this resort is less hectic than the better known resort of Queensland, 100kms away. Roys Peak is next to the city and walkers ascending the trail to its summit are rewarded with panoramic views of the lakes and adjacent peaks. Puzzling World is just outside Wanaka and features a 3D maze and various puzzles and optical illusions designed to tax the imaginations of visitors.
