Introduction to Te Anau - City Centre
The town of Te Anau in New Zealand's South Island lies on the shore of glorious Lake Te Anau and is the gateway to the spectacular UNESCO World Heritage wilderness of Fiordland National Park and Milford Sound. Although permanent residents here only number around 2,000, the little town is a hub for tourism in the region, with over 3,000 beds available during the summer season. Accommodation here includes Te Anau City Centre hotels, with advance booking essential during December and January, especially if city centre rooms are required. The city centre abuts the lake, with breathtaking views along the lakeshore to the mountains beyond, and Te Anau Memorial Gardens being a good place for a picnic or a gentle stroll.
