Introduction to Picton, New Zealand
Picton is a port town at the bottom end of Queen Charlotte Sound on the South Island of New Zealand. Picton’s port is linked to Wellington on the North Island by passenger ferry. The port has a number of Picton hotels a short distance from it. The two hour ferry journey from Wellington crosses the Cook Strait and then sails through the Marlborough Sounds to Picton. Views of majestic islands, forested mountains and clear blue seas are visible all the way into the Marlborough Sounds. Picton hotels provide a convenient rest point on long journeys. A plethora of cafs and restaurants offer sustenance to those staying in Picton hotels. Picton is a centre for outdoor activities which include boating, fishing, swimming, snorkelling, cycling and hiking. Hotels in Picton are a good base for partaking in these activities and also for daytrips around the region. Whales and dolphins can be spotted in Kaikoura, south of Picton.other spellings: pictonhotels, picton otel, pictan nz hotell, picton nz hote, pizton hotle
