At the base of the Aupouri Peninsula, which is itself at the tip of the North Auckland Peninsula, Mangonui is one of several linked resort settlements along the northern coast. The town is located in Doubtless Bay, along with Cable Bay, Coopers Beach and Taipa, forming one large community of beachside fun and relaxation. The blue seas and hilly terrain surrounding Mangonui Harbour makes a beautiful holiday backdrop as travellers explore the area. Coopers Beach is a long, quiet stretch of sand with soft waves and many shady spots to catch a nap on the shore. From Mangonui hotels, it is easy to discover the wonders hidden between the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean on the tiny peninsula of Aupouri. Ninety Mile Beach, which is in fact an 88 kilometre stretch along the west coast of the peninsula, is one of the highlights in the Far North district.
