A vineyard and lodging rolled into one, the Heritage Hotel & Spa du Vin, Pokeno, lies in the popular wine growing area the Mangatawhiri Valley, less than half an hour by road from Auckland. The city feels like a million miles away from here, however. The property lies in a rural area surrounded by hills on the edge of the protected Hunua Ranges. The coastline is also less than 10 miles away, and this area is popular with hikers. The onsite gourmet restaurant serves wine manufactured on site from grapes grown on the property and the spa features a full range of services including massage and a sauna. There is also a fitness centre. The beautifully presented guest chalets are set in a lovely garden, and all boast stunning views.
