Introduction to Dunedin, New Zealand
Featuring a prominent statue of famous poet Robert Burns, Dunedin is a south New Zealand city that offers a surprising slice of Scotland in the South Pacific. The city is built on a natural harbour, with stunning sea views to be had on a number of surrounding peaks including Signal Hill and Mount Cargill. Strips of coastline such as Tunnel Beach - so called because of a spooky tunnel leading to the sand - are absolutely stunning and within easy access of the centre. Head to Larnach Castle and Cargill Castle for a closer look at what rank among New Zealand's most impressive old buildings. Those feeling fit may want to hit Baldwin Street for a bit of trivia and exercise all at once. Officially the world's tallest street, it is a stiff challenge but the views from the top are worth it. The best Dunedin hotels are found on or close to Princess Street, some of which have sea views.Visit our Dunedin Travel Guide
