Introduction to Dunedin - City Centre
The New Zealand town of Dunedin is at the head of Otago Harbour, a picturesque inlet off the Pacific Ocean shoreline of the South Island of New Zealand. The Octagon is at the heart of the central precinct and is an atmospheric place with eclectic restaurants, cafes, pubs, live music venues, boutiques and speciality shops. Otago Settlers Museum, the city art gallery, the fabulous edifice that serves as Dunedin Railway Station, botanic gardens, St Paul's Cathedral and Cadbury World are all situated in the centre. Cadbury World runs frequent guided tours of its factory. Tourist trains for Pukerangi, Taieri Gorge and Palmerston can be boarded at the town's rail station. Dunedin City Centre hotels are dotted around the district and at the heart of all these fabulous locations. The city centre harbour is renowned for its windsurfing, while swimming and surfing beaches such as St Clair are around two kilometres south. Visit our Dunedin Travel Guide
