This is a great hotel for visitors just arriving or departing the South island or for those exploring the Marlborough sounds. Excellent central location. An abundance of activities to suit all, both land and water based, from wine tours to sailing, hiking and fishing. the TranzCoastal train service also starts and end in Picton.

The rooms are spacious and light. They are simply furnished in floral patterns. The rooms have either balconies or garden access. All rooms have a fridge, TV with cable channels and tea/coffee making facilities. Most rooms have shower over bath. Many rooms can accomodate three guests.

Whalers is the in-house restaurant one of its features is the large panoramic windows to make the most of the harbour views. Serves a good selection of local and international dishes.
