Westland is a municipality along the coast of western Netherlands. This area was only established in 2004, bringing together a dozen small Dutch towns centred mainly around agriculture and fishing. The region's City Hall can be found in Naaldwijk, the second-largest city and a centre for much of the area's business. Westland is known throughout the world as an important exporter of flowers, so much of the flat landscape here is dotted with massive greenhouses and fields of popular commercial flowers like tulips. Westland's coastal towns are popular vacation spots, especially with Germans. Ter Heidje, Monster and 's-Gravenzande are three beach towns packed with tourists during the peak of summer. The beaches here are nice by Dutch standards, and the quantity of camping spots lures caravan travellers. The coastal towns are also close to neighbouring Scheveningen, an even more popular seaside resort town with long beaches and lots of amenities, nightlife and accommodation. The best hotels in Westland are centred around the beach towns like Monster, though the larger cities also have lodging that caters mainly to business travellers in the flower trade.
