Historically known as Coriovallum is Heerlen, a large city located in the Netherlands. The city boasts a good selection of Heerlen hotels, especially in areas surrounding the Royal Theatre, which is a popular attraction among both locals and tourists. To the west of the theatre are a few mid range Heerlen hotels, many of which have good facilities and offer guests private rooms. There is also a good selection of budget Heerlen hotels such as youth hostels which are located near train stations like Station Heerlen so getting around the city is very easy. Shopping opportunities are vast in the city, with a few examples of shopping areas being Woodenboulevard, which has been dubbed the largest place to buy furniture in the whole of Europe, and the Hoensbroek Centre, which is located in the northern area of the city and features different types of shops. Other attractions include the Dutch Mine Museum.
