Introduction to Amsterdam, Netherlands
Though rather infamous for attractions like its red-light district and coffee shops that sell cannabis, the Dutch city of Amsterdam has much to offer holidaymakers and from all walks of life. Amsterdam hotels provide the opportunity to enjoy the incredible, picturesque streets and canals of the city centre. The city has so many cafes that it can be hard to imagine there is room for anything else in the lives of the locals. In between coffees, be sure to visit the Van Gogh Museum, which sits just 10 minutes south of the city centre. The old Anne Frank House, another of the city's top tourist sites, is even closer - just to the northwest of the old centre. Art lovers can get a fix by heading to the Rembrandt House Museum, where much of the great painter's work can be seen. Anybody keen on an exciting shopping experience should head for the colourful and vibrant Albert Cuypmarkt, which is less than 10 minutes to the south. The Heineken Experience, almost next door to the market, is a great way to enjoy the city's great beer heritage.Visit our Amsterdam Travel Guide
