The Pokhara Museum: is a fascinating insight into the lifestyles and heritage of ethnic groups found in Nepal including the Gurung, Thakiali and the Tharu. Exhibits include selections of models, photographs and artefacts as well as information on the groups and a display of newly-discovered remains of an 8,000-year-old settlement in Mustang.
Barahi Temple: is the most important monument in Pokhara. The temple stands graciously in the centre of Phewa Lake and is home to a two-story pagoda which was built as a memorial to the manifestation of Ajima. Every Saturday, worshippers make their way to the temple with their male animals and fowl to present to the deity.
World Peace Stupa: is located at the top of the hill which overlooks the stunning Phewa Lake. The stupa enjoys a private location which can only be reached by boat. It is necessary to row a boat across the lake and climb a track in order to appreciate the beauty of the stupa.
You will find many impressive displays of the original climbing equipment which was used in the first Himalayan ascents. Exhibits on the history, geology, culture, flora and fauna of the Himalayas are also on display.
Annapurna Museum: also known as the Natural History Museum, is located at Prithvi Narayan Campus east of the old bazaar. Featuring great collections of butterflies, insects, birds and models of wildlife alongside precious stones and volcanic rocks, the museum is ideal if you want to learn more about nature in Nepal.
