Introduction to Pokhara - City Centre
Pokhara is one of the largest cities in Nepal and can be reached by tourist bus or microbus from Kathmandu. Buses depart regularly from the capital city and are available until the afternoon. Pokhara is located on the north shore of Lake Phewa, with the Himalayas as a backdrop. This is a popular starting point for treks in the Annapurna region. Pokhara City Centre hotels can be found in Mahendra Pul and there are numerous sites of interest in the vicinity of these establishments. The local bazaar is where locals head to do their shopping and there is a range of items for sale here, from vegetables to crafts. Pokhara Museum, situated between the city centre and the airport, is worth a visit. The building that houses the museum is small but there are many items on display that offer insight into local culture and traditions. The history of each tribe differs and there are displays on the Gurung and the Tharu. The main source of entertainment in the city is restaurants; however, there are a few bars that stay open until the town lights go off at 22:30. Visit our Pokhara Travel Guide
