Introduction to Caprivi, Namibia
Caprivi is a region in Namibia located right in the country's northeast corner, close to borders with other African countries such as Angola and Zambia. Although it has been in the hands of the Germans and the Dutch in the past, it has never stopped being a home to vast outdoor areas with hundreds of species of wildlife that keep tourists flocking to the area. Mamili National Park and Chobe National Park are the most popular spots for wildlife enthusiasts, and some of the best hotels in Caprivi are based on their grounds. Just as frequented are West Caprivi Game Park and Mahango Game Reserve, especially by game-watchers. Among the animals native to this area are elephants, hippo, zebra, buffalo and impala. From December to March is when the rainy season is in full effect. Excursions across the borders into the likes of Botswana are also possible from Caprivi.
