Several good Thai restaurants offering a wide variety on their menus can be found on the Dhama Zedi Road while Chinese cuisine from Cantonese, Beijing, Hokkien and Szechwan can be savoured in restaurants scattered around the city. If your taste buds are crying out for a spicy Indian curry, you need to head down to Anawrahta Road towards the Sri Kali temple. Here, the famous Indian Beriyani, roti, banana leaf meals and dosa can all be found. Many of the restaurants serve northern Indian cuisine.
The best kimchi in Yangon can be found at Pyay Road while Vietnamese, French and Italian restaurants can also be found serving gourmet food. Hotels restaurants often stay open till 23:00 and offer a variety of international cuisine.
The food sellers do not speak any English so tourists will just need to point to the dish they want and hope for the best. Fast food is becoming increasingly popular in Myanmar with several fast food outlets emerging including Tokyo Fried Chicken, Pizza Corner, Ginza Pan Food Centre and Sharkey’s.
