Known as the Golden Land, Myanmar is a land of incredible beauty and mystical charm. The capital, Yangon, and its surrounding regions are a stunning contrast of old and new which offer, green fertile plains, vast untouched jungles, unspoiled beaches and small traditional villages.
Travelling around Myanmar can often be slow but is well worth making the journeys as you will undoubtedly experience truly unique and inspiring places. South eastern Myanmar is home to the world famous Golden Rock, crumbling Mawalamyine, the village of Hpa-an and the stunning Kwathoung. Kwathoung is home to beautiful beaches and hundreds of unexplored islands in the Mergui Archipelago.
The Kengtung and border areas are truly off the beaten track because of its inaccessibility, but travellers who do manage to get here are rewarded with some breath-taking scenery and truly memorable experiences. Mandalay is easy to get to and offers many historical sites to explore.
The best time to visit Myanmar would depend on the region you wish to visit, but in general, the months between March and May are the dry seasons which can also get extremely hot and dusty. Rainy season makes some areas impassable so for some destinations, hot season is your only option. Yangon is home to an international airport that handles flights from many destinations.
