Introduction to Yangon - Inya Lake
Inya Lake is the biggest lake in Yangon, the largest city and former capital of Myanmar. Locals love it here and go walking around it for exercise. It takes around two hours to circle the lake. Bustling downtown is 10kms south from here and a world apart. The lake is bounded by Kaba Aye Pagoda Road on the east, University Avenue on the south, Inya Road on the southwest, Pyay Road on the west and Parami Road on the north. The shores of the lake are some of the city's most exclusive communities. Freedom fighter and democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi lives here; so does the United States ambassador and so did the late Burmese leader Ne Win.
