By air: Marrakech-Menara International Airport is located 4 miles southwest of the city and can easily be reached by bus or taxi. There are a limited number of international routes; however, a few of the budget operators have recently started flights, including Easyjet from Madrid and London, Ryanair from London Luton, and Thomsonfly from Manchester.
British Airways also have services from London Heathrow and London Gatwick. The other option is to fly via Casablanca, which has a much larger choice of international routes. The connecting flight from Casablanca to Marrakech takes 45 minutes.
The main railway station is an attractive colonial building on Avenue Hassan II at the western edge of Gueliz. First- and second-class tickets are available on most trains and reservations can be made in advance. The first-class carriage is air-conditioned and more comfortable, although second-class is adequate for most journeys.
By bus: long-distance buses from Europe are operated by Eurolines and there is a convenient service between London and Marrakech. Supratours also have services to destinations in mainland Europe via Spain and France. Their office is next door to the train station on avenue Hassan II.
By road: driving to Morocco from mainland Europe is possible via southern Spain or France, with car ferry. The roads within Morocco are generally good and traffic is minimal, however driving in Marrakech is not recommended unless you know your way around. Long-term parking is available in Gueliz at any of the big hotels or near avenue Mohammed V. Marrakech is linked to Casablanca by the P7; to Ouarzazate by the P31; to Fez by the P24; and to Agadir by the P10 and then P40.
