Introduction to Tineghir, Morocco
The Moroccan town of Tineghir is located in the verdant Wadi Todgha Oasis between the High Atlas and Anti Atlas Mountain ranges. Taking a journey to one of the summit viewpoints offers visitors the breath-taking panoramic vista of a 50km stretch of palms set against a backdrop of the majestic red peaks. There are several hotels in Tineghir to be found scattered about the town. Near these establishments is a choice of eateries that serve some international fare, but specialise mostly in the local cuisine. There are also retail outlets and many hawker stalls selling, dates, fruit, silver jewellery and the ubiquitous Persian carpets. The Oasis Gardens at the east end of town provide visitors and locals alike with lovely cool location. However, the principal attraction to this area is the Todra Gorge. This massive geological feature begins at the end of Tineghir's town limits and features fascinating clay houses that have seemingly been glued to rocks. Tours through Todra Gorge - a must-see attraction - can be booked in town.
