Introduction to Tetouan - Beach

The evergreen Rif Mountains surround the beaches in the northern Moroccan city of Tetouan, where the sun shines for no fewer than 320 days each year. Tetouan Beach hotels are never far from the water. One of the nearest beaches, Oued Laou, has its own township and stretches for several kilometres along the Mediterranean Sea. The drive to Oued Laou takes visitors past some of Morocco's most breathtaking scenery, and visitors are virtually guaranteed sunbathing spots on this wide beach of pale golden sand at the end of their journey. Another nearby port, Martil, offers freshly-caught seafood, which is sold at its seaside restaurants. A lesser known beach, M'dig, is the best place to gather rare seashells. All of these beaches are easy to reach by grand or petit taxis and enjoy comfortable temperatures averaging at 22°C in the middle of winter. Summer temperatures can soar as high as 35°C in this UNESCO World Heritage city known for its traditional medina.
