Introduction to Tangier - Airport
Situated close to the coast at around eight miles from Tangier is Morocco's Tangier Airport. Officially known as Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport after the Moroccan scholar, the hub features a new terminal building that was opened in 2008. Since the opening of this new structure, the airport has increased the number of destinations it serves along with its yearly passenger throughput, which is presently at around 650,000. Tangier Airport hotels cater to the thousands of passengers landing here each year from destinations such as Amsterdam, Paris, Madrid, Brussels and London. Aside from domestic locations, flights link with Saudi Arabia's Jeddah and Medina to cater to the many Moroccans Muslims heading on pilgrimages.
