Introduction to Safi, Morocco

Safi is a city of over 280,000 inhabitants located on Morocco's west coast. Peacefully overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, this city is yet another of the country's popular tourist destinations. While it holds a reputation for being home to Morocco's sardine industry, as well as an important military base during WWII, Safi is also a much-loved tourist destination complete with beautiful beaches and numerous historic and cultural attractions. The majority of hotels in Safi provide stunning views over the Atlantic Ocean while offering accommodation at much more economical rate's than the country's other tourist centres. When visitors aren't spending time relaxing on the beach or at their resorts, they are usually out at the famous central Medina - a large walled fortification in the centre of town - or travelling north up the coastal road to Oualidia.
