Introduction to Rabat - Agdal
Agdal is one of the most affluent suburbs of Morocco's national capital, Rabat, and was originally constructed over gardens. In fact, the suburb's name is the Tamazight word for 'garden', but, today, many guests at Agdal hotels are either diplomats or business people. One of the neighbourhood's most dominant landmarks is its Rabat-Agdal rail station, one of the two largest in the region. This sprawling rail station experienced a major renovation in 2004. The neighbourhood's main avenue is named Fal Ould Oumeir, and most of the streets which surround it are filled with fast food establishments, internationally famous shops, foreign embassies, schools, hospitals and government institutions. A United Nations building can also be found here as well as the Hilton Forest, which is actually a trail loop surrounding a peaceful wooded area where eucalyptus trees grow. Most of this neighbourhood's residents are expatriates from France or other countries, and are some of Morocco's wealthiest citizens. Visit our Rabat Travel Guide
