Introduction to Asilah, Morocco
Asilah is a famous walled city in northwestern Morocco that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. With a history stemming back to 1,500 BC, people from all over the world have long loved visiting this incredibly unique city. Many of the best hotels in Asilah overlook the beach and the stunning coastline that extends in either direction. With the Portuguese having colonised the city in 1471, this city features plenty of colonial buildings. A prime example of this past occupation is the Portuguese fortress and the traditional-style houses that have been built around it and in the town's centre. There are restaurants that serve dishes representative of countless nationalities from both Europe and North Africa. While Asilah has plenty of attractions to offer visitors, many choose to drive on to Tangier, which is a short 50kms drive away.
