Introduction to Villahermosa - City Centre
Villahermosa, the capital of Mexico's Tabasco State, is known as the Emerald of the Southeast. This large modern city offers visitors a wealth of cultural and natural attractions to go with its vibrant commercial edge. Right in the heart of the city are several interesting historical parks such as Parque-Museo La Venta, a park and museum featuring some of the best ancient Olmec artefacts in the country, and a natural environment of lakes and gardens. For one-stop entertainment, look no further than Tabasco 2000, a comprehensive entertainment complex with a planetarium, a five-star hotel, restaurants and the massive Galerias shopping centre. Villahermosa City Centre hotels are decidedly budget-oriented. Although not a hugely popular tourist destination, Villahermosa's equidistant location between Mexico City and Cancun make it a useful stopover for travel between these two hotspots.
