Introduction to Toluca, Mexico
Toluca is the capital of the state of Mexico and lies just outside the sprawling edges of the Mexico City megalopolis. Half a million people call Toluca home and many of them are students at the several universities and training centres here. Toluca hotels are sometimes part of the university campuses and these rooms are usually booked out during conferences or beginning or end times of the university semesters. Hotels in Toluca itself will take up the extra guest traffic during these periods but advance bookings are well advised since this is a very heavily travelled urban area and business and tourism requirements are high at all times of the year. Toluca hotels may be located near the city’s major tourist attractions such as the Plaza de los Martires (Plaza of the Martyrs) which contains the Government Palace and the Palace of Justice.
