Introduction to Puebla - Cholula
The university city of Cholula is renowned for being one of Mexico's liveliest places for nightlife. It lies around 15kms west of Puebla and some 150kms from the centre of Mexico City. The main attraction for those arriving in the city is the Great Pyramid of Cholula. This incredible complex is the New World's largest archaeological site of a pyramid and has beautiful church at its peak, with the structure standing 55m above the surrounding plain. From the top, excellent views of Cholula and the Popo volcano can be enjoyed. In addition, the pyramid's intriguing interior tunnel has just reopened to the public and there is an interesting little museum nearby. The city's nightlife is superb and there are numerous restaurants, bars and nightclubs which stay open well into the early hours of the morning.
