Introduction to Guanajuato - City Centre
The city of Guanajuato, capital of the Mexican state of the same name, lies in a narrow valley in the north-central region of the country. Its location restricts its streets to narrow, winding passages, alleyways and steps up the mountainside, giving the city a unique feel. Many streets are either entirely or partially underground and the historic central area is crammed with colonial era architecture.
