Introduction to Cuernavaca - City Centre
Cuernavaca, with its beautiful parks and gardens and year-round warm climate, is located only 84kms south of Mexico City, the country's capital. A favourite tourist destination, city weekends are a lively affair, with the centre crammed with locals and holidaymakers from the capital. The city's downtown district is the place for bars, nightclubs and music venues, many located within Cuernavaca City Centre hotels. Revels at most of the entertainment venues continue until sunrise, enjoyed by locals, expats and visitors alike. The city centre contains the old city with its many splendid heritage buildings, mansions and palaces and its two main tree-lined plazas of Juarez and Morelos. A few blocks to the west of the centre is the impressive 16th century Cuernavaca Cathedral complex, built to also serve as a fortress.
