Introduction to Riviere du Rempart, Mauritius
Riviere du Rempart, named after the river that courses through it, is a popular tourist destination on the north-eastern coast of Mauritius. The district contains major towns such as Grand Gaube, Goodlands and Antoinette, all of which offer markets, shops, access to golf courses, fabulous eateries and several different accommodation options. The hotels in Riviere du Rempart are spread along the coast and enable visitors to indulge in some quality water activities, including snorkelling, swimming, dolphin-watching, boat cruises and more. Cap Malheureux is located the northern pinnacle of the island and home to the iconic, red-roofed Notre-Dame Auxiliatrice Church. Owing to the island's fairly small size, most of its numerous attractions can be easily reached. The capital of Port Louis is located opposite, on the western side of the island. En route, visitors pass through the Moka Mountains with its panoramic viewpoints of the capital's collection of both colonial and modern buildings.
