Just don’t expect a taste of the real Malta – everything here is geared towards tourists. Activities are less abundant in the day but there are plenty of shops to browse around here if you’re looking for a souvenir to take home.
Dining: the restaurants here are not as authentic as you might find outside of the main tourist areas and are also more expensive; however, there are certainly numerous very good eating out options with the focus invariably on seafood. Italian restaurants are common here, given Malta’s proximity to Sicily, and Western food is equally easy to find for those that like to stick to what they know.
Shopping: tourist knick-knack shops are abundant along the St Paul’s Bay waterfront, selling everything from flip-flops to postcards. If you are looking for traditional Maltese handicrafts, you might struggle here, especially along the main drag, but some are available even if Valletta is the better option in this regard.
