Saint Julian’s Travel Guide
It is also possible to catch a movie at the nearby IMAX theatre with its screenings in English, or go bowling. Like many of Malta’s tourist centres, scuba diving and snorkelling can be arranged from here, as well as other outdoor pursuits including fishing and horseback riding.
Bar hopping: St Julian’s and Paceville feel like they are a million miles away from the traditional old Malta, particularly after dark when the majority of the tourists on the island head here for the excellent bar scene. St Julian’s is a good place to start proceedings, with its quieter waterfront cafes and bars, before making the short walk over to livelier Paceville.
Fishing: locals can often be seen extending a fishing line out into the bay at St Julian’s but the best way to do it is to hire a boat and get out on the water. Check at the nearby tour companies for information on half- or whole-day fishing trips.
Diving: St Julian’s is one of the best places in Malta from which to arrange scuba diving, for those that already have the necessary certificate, or a course for those that don’t. Snorkelling equipment is also available here either to buy or rent.
