Introduction to Saint Julian’s - Balluta Bay
The small island of Malta has long been a favourite with tourists seeking a less chaotic Mediterranean holiday spot with great beaches, a long history and an interesting culture. The coastal resort of St Julian's, set north of the capital, Valletta, is popular with incomers and locals alike, with its three beautiful bays, soaring cliffs, friendly people and first-class facilities. Although the shore here is rocky, there are plenty of spots for sunbathing, especially in Balluta Bay. This spot is one of the prettiest, known for its water sports, including diving, and for its spectacular seascape conquered by the impressive Our Lady Of Carmel church with its twin spires and the impressive Art Nouveau Balluta Buildings. Along the shoreline and around the triangular piazza are charming Georgian-style terraced homes, with a few Balluta Bay hotels overlooking the sea.
