The small, picturesque village of Marsascala is located in the southeast of Malta and is a popular destination for those looking for a peaceful holiday. The town's main beach area is located just to the south, at St Thomas Bay. The bay is fairly open to the sea and features a number of small sandy beaches, although most of the coastline is made up of stones. The area boasts some nice walks along the cliff tops, while there is also a cafe and a snack-bar. The main feature of this part of town is the St Thomas Tower, which was erected in 1615 to protect the entrance of both St Thomas Bay and Marsascala Bay. From the top, there is a beautiful view of the coastline. Marsascala Beach hotels can be found along the coast, less than a kilometre away from the town centre, where most of the restaurants, cafes and shops can be found.
