Tioman Island Travel Guide - Attractions

The alluring tropical island has become a paradise for tourists because of its picturesque beauty, virgin jungles, cascading waterfalls, exotic birds, flora and fauna, palm fringed beaches, the comfortable hospitality and the mystery that seems to shroud the island. In addition to all of these luxuries there are also many places of interest and activities to enjoy on Tioman Island.
Tioman Marine Park: occupies an area of about two nautical miles and includes the tiny islands of Pulau Labas, Pulau Sepoi, Pulau Gut, Pulau Tokong Bahara, Pulau Chebeh, Pulau Tulai, Pulau Sembilang and Pulau Seri Buat. The waters at the park are crystal clear and the coral reefs, marine life, aquatic plants and vibrantly coloured fish are all protected. Visitors are allowed to swim, snorkel and dive at the marine park but have to adhere to strict regulations that support in protecting and conserving the area.
Asah Waterfall: is magnificent as seven rivers that wind their way through the islands forest meet here and form the waterfall. It is said that this is the waterfall that served as the background to the song “Bali Hai” in the olden movie South Pacific. It is spectacularly beautiful and after a 40 minute hike from Kampung Mukut, a small local village, it is a good place to stop and enjoy the cool water. Take some time to stop at the village as it is very quaint with well tended gardens surrounding wooden huts and very friendly locals who speak a little English.
Sudut Muzium: is a small museum that tells the story of the Maritime Silk Routes over a period of 900 years. The relics and items displayed date back to the 11th century and include ceramics, coins, maps, paintings, sea charts and other old items that tell the story of pirates and traders and of how goods were traded and sold. History lovers will not want to miss visiting this tiny museum that tells the story of bygone times.
