Watersports: Teluk Chempedak, located only 5kms from the city centre, is an excellent destination for watersports such as sailing, surfing and water-skiing while Cherating, the first location for Club Med in Asia, boasts a lot of activities including yachting, windsurfing, jet skiing, and many more.
Sunbathing on secluded beaches: just a short drive away from Kuantan’s city centre, you can escape to many inviting beaches and spend some quality time in the sun. Head to Berserah, famous for fresh fish. Balok, only 13 kms away from the centre, is a popular beach for windsurfing while Batu Hitam amazes tourists with its special beach where all stones are black.
Turtle watching: the Chendor Beach in Cherating is also famous for its turtle sanctuary where you can witness green turtles and giant leatherback turtles lumbering ashore to lay eggs.
Exercising: Taman Gelora is a charming park located about 3kms from Kuantan. People come here to enjoy many kinds of sports such as jogging, aerobic dancing, exercising, tennis or even beach volleyball.
Mini zoo: a favourite place for children, Tamen Teruntum has a mini zoo with some native animals like peacocks, deer and sun-pheasants. Tourists can also come here for a picnic on a sunny day.
Kuantan harbour: is perfect for strolling around while admiring a small picturesque harbour setting. The riverfront area with inviting walkways gives a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere in the evening. Watching sunset at the harbour is also a memorable experience.
