Kuala Lumpur Travel Guide
There are numerous bars and pubs in KL, although most are situated in the suburbs out of the way. Live music is popular in many quality establishments and, as the pubs close at 23:00, the nightclubs fill up and rage on until 02:00. So called kelab malam (cabarets) usually feature floor shows and acts and have a 1950s atmosphere. Jalan P Ramlee (city centre south) is the main clubbing district.
Also to the south of the city centre, the area known as Bangsar is also popular for nightlife, particularly around Jalan Telawi and associated side streets. Another popular area to enjoy the nightly entertainment, albeit for the well-heeled, is Heritage Row, which is a row of refurbished shop houses from the colonial era that feature gourmet restaurants and trendy bars. Jalan Doraisamy is the centre of activity and the area is well served by monorail.
