Kuala Lumpur Travel Guide
By bus: Kuala Lumpur's main bus station - Puduraya bus station (Jalan Pudu) – is near Chinatown and operates services to and from destinations all over Peninsular Malaysia, including from Singapore and Thailand. This is the largest and most congested of KL’s bus stations and is sometimes a hassle getting taxis from here to the city centre and hotels.
There are various other bus stations and terminals in the city, but the most useful is the one at the Malaysia Tourism Centre (MTC) located on Jalan Ampang in the city centre. Executive bus services from Singapore arrive and depart from this convenient station.
By air: there are two airports in Kuala Lumpur; Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Subang. KLIA is now the main airport for getting to and from Malaysia, while Subang handles domestic flights only. The new airport, KLIA, is located to the south of the city at Sepang, near the race track, and handles all international and some domestic flights. Transport options to KL include two express rail lines, express coaches, and taxis, while those hiring cars can get to the city via the new expressway link.
By ferry: although Kuala Lumpur is located 40kms inland, ferries do arrive at the port of Klang to the southwest of Kuala Lumpur, with frequent services coming here from Sumatra in Indonesia.
