Jungle trekking: along different graded paths can be very exciting as trekkers will often come across monkeys, colourful birds, streams and waterfalls. It is an enjoyable way of learning about the local flora and fauna while being outdoors and enjoying the weather.
It is advisable to trek with a guide if visitors have not been jungle trekking before, as it is quite easy to get lost if the plants have overgrown on to the paths. Jim Thompson disappeared while jungle trekking here!
Bird watching: is an extremely pleasant way for nature lovers to spend a day. The lush mountains are homes to many species of birds including the mountain peacock, Mountain Blackeye, Common Kingfisher and many others. Cameron Highlands is a good place for bird watching because its habitat includes mangrove swamps, a cool damp climate with stunted trees and peat in hill forests.
Mountain biking: is quite popular with international tourists and is beginning to get popular with the locals. Bikes can be rented at Brinchang town and the bikes are usually in good condition. There are several clear trails and it is unlikely that bikers will get lost if they stick to the trails. Some trails are quite strenuous so do choose a trail that suits you physical condition.
The market sells fresh strawberries picked from the farms that very day, as well as lots of fruits and vegetables and all sorts of handicraft from batik cloth to key chains. Local and ‘international’ food can be found here from noodles and steamed corn to pizzas and burgers. Potatoes balls, fried beans, shaved ice with jelly and a local favourite called ‘iced kachang’ can all be found here. This is one stop that nobody should miss.
