The coastal city of Terengganu sits on the mouth of the wide Terengganu River, in the north east of Malaysia. The popular Perhentian Islands are also part of the state of Terengganu. Many local traditions are still prevalent in Terengganu, including kite flying, arts and crafts, and batik. Tourist attractions in Terengganu include waterfalls, beaches and islands. Many visitors come to the area to participate in water sports such as snorkelling and diving. There are plenty of good hotels in Terengganu, mainly concentrated around the centre.
