A small town in the Malaysian state of Perak, Tanjung Malim sits on the border with Selangor, about 70kms north of Malaysia's capital, Kuala Lumpur. Though the town has an interesting history, it is today popular with visitors who stop by for the town's famous pau, or stuffed buns. The town is also well-known for its natural attractions and as an education centre thanks to the university and college, both of which are easily reached from hotels in Tanjung Malim. The Proton City development recently injected fresh life into the town and is home to a large indoor and outdoor sports facility. Water features heavily among the regional attractions. The Strata Waterfalls are both impressive to see and set in an area that is home to excellent trekking. More such sights are easily enjoyed at Sungai Bil, Tibang Falls and Lon Waterfalls. The E1 North-South Expressway is a few minutes' drive to the west, putting Kuala Lumpur International Airport less than 1 hour, 30 minutes away. A LTS light rail station is also close by.
