The little Malaysian town of Sungkai is located at the southern end of the state of Perak, between the nearby towns of Bidor and Terolak. This is a very small community, popular with tourists primarily for the range of natural attractions in the region. The key transport links are the nearby E1 expressway and the ETS Transit light rail line that connects the town with Ipoh in the north and Kuala Lumpur to the south. From hotels in Sungkai, it is easy to reach the station, which is at the northeastern end of the town. The area is famous for its natural hot springs, around which many resorts have been built. The therapeutic effects of the hot waters are only about 10 minutes by taxi to the east of town. Sungai Bil, a popular waterfall set amid dense forests, is about 30kms to the south and is served by the next LTS station at Slim River. Kuala Lumpur International Airport is about two hours to the south by road.
