Introduction to Rawang, Malaysia
Formerly the capital of the Selangor district of Gombak, Rawang is today yet another of the distant outskirts of the Malaysian capital that are rapidly developing into Kuala Lumpur's commuter belt. Apart from during the busy rush hour, the town is less than 30 minutes from the capital by road thanks to the E1 expressway. The new railway station at Jalan Welman, just a few minutes from many hotels in Rawang, handles both commuter rail services and intercity trains. St Jude's, a Catholic church, attracts many pilgrims to the town. The Rawang Highway makes it easy to reach a number of local outdoor attractions. Kanching Waterfall and Commonwealth Forest Park are only a few minutes' drive to the south. Golfing, hiking, camping and picnics can be enjoyed at Templer Park, which is a few minutes farther via the highway. The popular and scenic Batu Caves, home to a Hindu temple, are only 30 minutes from the town and a major attraction for both visitors to the town and the capital. other spellings: raweng otel, rawan hotell, rawagn hote, rawanghotels, ra wang hotle, rawang
